This creamy and warm beverage comes from traditional ayurvedic medicine and is a great comfort during the colds days.

The main ingredient of golden milk is turmeric. This root is well known for its anti-inflammatory effect and could enhance digestive function, especially in the liver.

The other spices in the recipe are highly recommended in Chinese Medicine during the winter, to warm up the adrenal, affected by the cold weather. It’s the perfect season to slow down, stay warm, and snuggled under the duvet to take care of ourselves.

GOLDEN MILK RECIPE

Prep. time : 2 min - Cook time : 20 min

INGREDIENTS

1 cup of coconut milk

1 cup of unsweetened almond milk

1 tablespoon of coconut oil

1 cinnamon stick

2 tablespoon of turmeric powder or fresh root

2 slices of ginger

4 cardamom pods

1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Bring together all the ingredients in a small saucepan.

  2. Whisk carefully and warm over medium heat.

  3. Simmer for 10 minutes. Turn off the heat and let it rest here for another 10 minutes.

  4. Strain through a sieve.

  5. Drink when it’s still warm but not too hot. You can keep it in the fridge for 2 or 3 days.
